Explore Unawatuna’s beach-side cafes, restaurants and wayside shops. High on the headland of Unawatuna Bay is Roomassala Temple. With beautiful views stretching out over the Indian Ocean, a walk around the headland near the temple is very special. Famed for the natural medicinal herbs nearby, you will walk through hidden villages and verdant jungle valleys eventually finding yourself on `Jungle Beach’ - a little known and secluded beach. Snorkeling and Scuba diving is possible in Unawatuna Bay. There are also several surf points nearby including Mihiripenna and Dalawalla.

Galle’s historic 17th century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is just 15 minutes away. An entire morning can be spent exploring the maze of narrow roadways lined with Dutch and British Colonial era buildings that are still in use, sturdy ramparts overlooking Galle’s international cricket stadium, and scattering of shops, art galleries, museums, boutique hotels and cafes.
