Mount Lavinia, a well-known beach resort of Sri Lanka, is a suburb of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. It is located directly south of Colombo along the Galle Road artery which runs along the coast down to the south of the country. The town hosts Sri Lanka's National Zoological Gardens, reputed as one of the largest zoos in Asia. The town is renowned for its 'Golden Mile' of beaches, stretching for miles. The town has now become a hotspot for tourism and laid-back nightlife.
It's always crowded and lively here due to how close it is to the airport and the capital, as well as the main highways. Capital residents come here during weekends to relax after a hard week, swim in the ocean and enjoy their time in karaoke bars or during night parties. Besides that, Mount Lavinia offers water attractions, you can play football and beach volleyball and even ride an elephant along the coast. You can also rent a boat and go fishing or ride across the sea.
